Brendan Benson hat sich dieser Tage in seinem Studio in Nashville verschanzt, um das Nachfolgealbum zu seinem 2009er-Werk "My Old, Familiar Friend" aufzunehmen. Zur Seite steht ihm dabei die Band, mit der er letzten Herbst so erfolgreich durch Amerika tourte: Sein langjähriger Mitstreiter Brad Pemberton am Schlagzeug und dazu Jon Auer und Ken Stringfellow von The Posies an Gitarre, Bass und Keyboards.
Ken Stringfellow schreibt über die Sessions im Blog auf seiner Website: "I'm in Nashville to work on Brendan Benson's new album, with the live band from the tour–Brendan, Brad Pemberton on drums, Jon Auer and myself. Brendan has his own gear and space inside a studio in Nashville – just his stuff is pretty mindblowing-amps, guitars, drums, keyboards, etc. – and the studio has great stuff too. I won't say which studio or where, just to keep it on the downlow. We spent the first couple of days working up songs, a couple of which we were playing live, and some we just worked up from his demos. Everyone contributing ideas. The songs are killer, and I'm very excited to be a part of the sessions."
Bevor die fertige Platte erscheint, darf man sich übrigens über "Virgins Of Menace", das neue Album von Stringfellows Band The Disciplines freuen, das am 18. Februar 2011 auf den Markt kommt.
